I was just wondering after reading another thread how many drummers here change their set-up on a regular basis.   I can't stand to keep mine the same.

I find it inspirational to change my cymbal positioning and cymbal/ tom heights and angles from time to time.   I also like to change tom sizes (I usually play one of three four piece jazz kits).    

A four piece is perhaps more convenient for these alterations  -having more space to deal with (than say a 7 piece kit)  might help with the ease to make quick changes here and there.  

I'll add a double pedal, then take it away the next time.   Add a timbale, then exchange it for a piccolo.   Use 3 splashes, then one, etc. etc.  

Do you guys like to alter your set-up as well or do you prefer being able to close your eyes and count on your memory locks  -knowing exactly where everything will be, time and time again.

I used to change my set-up all the time, until I finally found one I was COMPLETELY comfortable with.  I have my Roc n Soc at it's highest setting and the drums and cymbals set fairly low and flat (If you're thinking it sounds like what Riki Rokkett or Joey Kramer do, you're right, that's where I got the idea!).  That way, not only can I be seen, but I don't have to reach for anything.  I'm a happy boy!  

@$%# straight Peter!  Funny you should mention growing your hair out, that's what I'm in the process of doing!  LOL!!  

Mine is almost out of that stage.  it is to the point of being just short of ponytail length and is really a pain in the @$$ right now!  In other words, I've been wearing alot of hats in the last year!
