I noticed on the website Bart mentioned above that Jim Petty uses Keller shells. Seems you could buy a 14x21 (or whatever height you want) shell and cut a board for the bottom opening to fit snugly. Then, he uses 12 1-1/4" sheet rock screws to secure the 'floor'. A modified stock throne seat or homemade one could be used, along with a hinge and a snap closure, and a handle on the side. Cover it with some sort of amp covering material OR wrap to match your kit. Hey, this could be fun to do! Would be much cheaper, with the shell costing under $100 with any luck.

ive never seen a used shell with those dimensions anything like that.
seems like all the custom drum makers use keller shells. is there a place to buy a shell made of cheap wood/material.
im going to be sitting on the thing, not playing it.
the shell seems to be the hard part. all the trimmings will be a breeze compared to finding a cheap shell idea.
