I like the yellow spring for my china, but there is a little bit of play almost as though my cymbal is not thick enough, even when the fitting is fully tightened because of this I get a nasty loud vibration.

To remedy this, I cut a 4mm cymbal felt and fitted it in between the top of the cymbal and the plastic top nut.  Can anyone see any problems in me doing this? It has stopped the noise, and the cymbal sounds great and is moving nicely on the spring…

I also have a red spring fitted to my splash (with the felt mod), I realise that they are intended for use on crashes, but it seems really happy and I like the feel. Is it going to cause me problems? Anyone tried this before?

Cheers

No but do you like your cymbal springs?  I've thought about using these things?  I wonder if they fit on yamaha stands.  I'm not a hard player, but I still wanna protect my cymbals the best I can.

The Cymbal Springs will fit on any cymbal stand.

You can pick them up here!

Hmmmm,....

I've never had a problem with any noise or anything with my cymbals springs.  Nor have I ever had a cymbal that "wasn't thick enough".  (I'm stumped on that one Undecided).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cymbal springs on Chinas and Rides.  Don't care for them on crashes. Never though about one for a splash.  Sounds intersting.

Bart,

The one Cymbal Spring I'm still using is about twenty years old, but I tried installing it on one of those Gibraltar cymbal boom-arm attachments, and the Spring didn't fit - not even close.

Keeping in mind the age of mine:  have the folks at Aquarian altered the design since then, to allow mounting on thicker cymbal stands like the Gibraltar?

I got a red cymbal spring for my china and did not like it. The mounting mechanism is poor- I had to crank it down to keep it from flopping around on the stand, and then saw that it smashed some of the screw threads on the stand inwards. I didn't see the purpose of it, it didn't have any give, I could barely bend the thing with my hands. It's now off and sitting on the floor and I'm much happier.
