Hey everyone! I hope you guys can help me out on this. When I'm playin my set I sometimes get aches in my right hand. I don't know if i'm using my right hand to much or what. I mostly play rock thats fast so i don't know if that has anything to do with my problem. Please respond soon. My email address is godzmusician@comcast.net

Go to http://www.tigerbill.com/subjects/drumlessons.htm and you can get some instructions on technique.  Other than that your probably gunna have to analyze your current technique and maybe get a drum instructor

Yep, get a teacher!

My first guess is that you are using too much tension in your hand when you play.  Unless there is something physically wrong with your hand, excess tension is the often the culprit leading to pain.

Also, our wonderful host Bart offers video correspondence lessons.  Basically, you would send him a video of you playing and he can look at your technique, etc. and make a custom video lesson with pointers on your specific technique as well as anything else you may be interested in learning.  I haven't done it yet, but its on my list.  I've heard other cafe members say it helped them a lot.  If you drop him an email at www.bartelliott.com or via IM here at the cafe he can tell you more about it.
