And what to ask for them. I'm having drum lessons again, and on the kit I play are two Paiste Signatures. One is an 18 inch Full crash which I totally love, and the other is a 15 inch Mellow crash which sounds as sweet as it's name suggests. They are extensively used by students, but are totally clean, and no cracks or keyholes. By the end of the summer the set and the cymbals get sold, and I want those Signatures, but what are they worth? Half of listprice?

Definitely worth less than 50% off retail ... because they are used ... and you can buy cymbals brand new, all day long, for 50% Off Retail.

As a former drum shop owner, I can tell you that you could expect to get 70% off retail ... and no more. So if the cymbal now retails for $300 ... you would be doing good to get $90 for it ... especially since anyone could buy the same cymbal brand new for $150.00.

70% OFF retail for used cymbals is a basic industry standard.

All of this is assuming the cymbal is NOT a collectible and is currently available on the market. In rare cases you may get 60% off retail, but that would mean the cymbal is basically brand new with no evidence of wear (stick marks, etc.).

Who knows, you may find someone who doesn't know better (like on eBay) who may give you 50% off retail ... but I sure wouldn't.

Just hope know one reads this post ... then you might get half price of retail for your used cymbal.

Thanks Bart, this is going to be a bargain price for these cymbals, they're the best I've ever heard IMHO.

I don't care, I'm buying, plus, the guys has a drumschool and told me that he dislikes the way the cymbals sound.

Edit;

AH I get it, I wasn't really clear, was I? The cymbals are my teachers' and I want to buy them from him, get it? Plus you're not saying hanging on to my Sabian B8´s is worth more, are you?  Grin

LOL ........... noooooooooo I thought you were SELLING the cymbals ... not buying the cymbals.

So I would DEFINITELY NOT pay more than 70% off retail for his cymbals. Even less if he'll go for it ... obviously.

If I was selling Paiste Signatures, what would I need to get to improve my cymbals? IMO that's like impossible, but hey there are a lot of people who don't like them. If anybody on here has a signature and dislikes it, you can send it to me for free  Grin
