Great Quotes

"Everybody has their own pace of doing what they do. But if we're sidemen, we have to try to zero in on the pace of the people we're working with."

all this talk of 5 & 7's made me think about Joe Morello's time tabe is "Master Studies" for the snare drum. check it out it:

quarters notes (1:1)

quarter note triplets (3:2)

8th notes (2:1)

8th note triplets (3:1)

16th notes (4:1)

quintuplets (5:1)

sextuplets (6:1)

group of 7 (7:1)

32nd notes (8:1)

group of 9 (9:1)

group of 10 (10:1)

group of 11 (11:1)

64th notes (12:1)

It's a lot fun and work. I found with groups if 9 thru 12 I had to work out the number of strokes to get comfortable enought with the combination to move on to the next grouping.

****ALL WAYS USE A METRONOME****
