I've played on these kits ... but never in a musical situation. They are 'unique' ... but in my opinion, would have to be used in a very specific situation, such as a particular song. Perhaps if you plan to perform in a group that would go for this vibe ... it might be cool.

I'm into versatility ... and I just didn't find it with their drumset, probably because of the shape and sizes used to make it work in a drumset configuration. The sounds just didn't 'wow' me ... and I would need that in order to purchase the full set-up.

I DID purchase their bass drum stand however, which I absolutely love. It allows me to use a variety of my own ethnic drums as a kick drum.

Bart-when you played the kit, did you play bare handed, with sticks, mallets. if so, did that change the tone much?

i'm into jazz-world-jamband, so this kit might be right for me. plus i have my regular kit (Fibes) as well.

random-i just e-mailed them for a price or a dealer. i have a freind who owns a music store, so i'll be asking him as well.

I played it with sticks and with my hands. I think the skins are just too thick, at least the kits I was playing on.

Fork's Drum Closet here in Nashville had a set and couldn't sell it, so they sent it back to Canada.  Undecided

I sat behind one of those at the PASIC last year.
It was kind of neat but not being fluent in hand drum I was at a loss of what to do.
I was a little doubtful because I had played on their bongos at the store I work at and wasn't too impressed. There was nothing wrong with the quality of these however.

i'm gonna have to play one before i buy one, to be sure.  it's a great idea IMO, but if the sound isn't there...
