Hello there,

I can buy me a Yamaha Recording Custom. To my surprise it is made in England. Does anybody know something about the quality of those drums? Are they as good as the Japanese made?

Thanks, Anko

I have limited knowledge of the new Recording Custom kits ... although my primary kit is an 80's Yamaha Recording Custom 7-pc.

The England factory probably came about when Yamaha bought Premier years ago ... and then sold them off again. Premier, as you may or may not know, were made in England. So perhaps Yamaha is now using that old facility. Don't take my word on all of this; it's just a theory.

I would think the drums would be great. The Recording Customs have had a long history of being high quality birch shell drums. I doubt that Yamaha is planning on digressing from that status.
