Nothing at all, since I started using evans on the kick.   It has built in zero rings on it that are vented.

I have the Dave Weckl pads (made by Remo).  I like the way my bass drum sounds with them.

I just hate the brackets (that are held with velcro).  The velcro on the brackets keeps peeling off.  I'm thinking this has to do when I schlep my drums around especially if my bass drum is upside in the case.

just an Evans EQ Pad  (Evans EMAD batter / Evans Retroscreen)---even sits on an Evans Crash Pad. (As I've said before, my bass drum is very Evans-Happy.  Grin)

(sorry - I guess the new guy needs to use the "search" function more - LOL)

I'm kinda surprised at the number of people who already responded and said nothing ...

I guess that just shows - everyone likes a different sound

I have mind full of (wadded up) newspaper AND have a Damark impact pad on the bass drum head for that solid "thunk" sound

It depends in my case, as I like two primary sounds.  I'm primarily a lighter player.

For an abrupt sound, I'll use a carefully-placed pillow just touching one or both heads.  For a more open sound, I'll opt for felt bundles or strips secured to the head(s).

I rarely go for both heads undampened; usually there's at least a dollar-sized piece of felt somewhere.

I've used newspaper before; the soundman reprimanded me, saying a rattle would be apparent.  I've yet to try the old trick of feathers in the drum, though I want to.

Not a thing.   I like a big ol' ringy sound.   No fancy muffling heads either.

No need to stuff anything inside the BD with all the fancy heads on the market today.  My preference is Evans EQ/EMAD heads.  Others like the Aquarian Super Kick series.  Check 'em out... you might find this to be a better solution.  The advantage of this approach (as opposed to stuffing) is a more stable & controlled sound.  Nothing to shift around... plus it looks nice & clean.

Nothin', man!  Just a remo foam dampener on the batter and a thin piece of felt along the top of the other head.

Get rid of the laundry.  You gotta let your bass drum sing.
