Loved Jason Marsalis' first disc, Music In Motion. His second disc, Year of the Drummer, seemed more focused on composition, but the drumming was less flashy. I was curious if there was a third release out. Saw him with Los Hombres Calientes a few years ago and the whole band was just smokin'.

Anyone know what he's working on these days?

i haven't checked out any of his stuff, but i did see that 'family reunion' tour he did with pops and brothers wynton and branford. a lot of it was straight-ahead, some of it went more out there. i really dig their dad's playing.

here's a quick thingie i spotted on the net...

He can be heard playing propulsively but subtly in a regular piano/bass/drums trio led by his father, jazz rock fusion with Neslort, salsa with the Brazilian percussion group Casa Samba, or as leader of his own post bop group. He also recorded with Los Hombres Calientes, the Afro-Cuban group that first made its impact at the New Orleans' Jazz And Heritage Festival in the late 90s

he's playing:
