why are drummers so hard to find?! well they are in kansas......for black metal music......hrmph, any body know any drummers in northeast kansas? could help heh......also i am curious as to whether anyone here likes nicholas barker (ex-cradle of filth, ex-dimmu borgir, old mans child) he is one of my biggest influences because he uses blazing speed and he is precise and puts technical stuff in his drumming......but it is the kind you have to really listen to, like random cymbal hitting that is kinda hard to discern.....anyhoo enough ranting from me......i need a drummer! or a guitarist i suppose as i can play drums okay.

Barker rules, like many other metal drummers.

Good musicians of any type are hard to find, but I have to say singers are the harderst.  Good ones that is, ones that will give you that unique sound to distinquish you from the rest of the bands/singers out there.

Uh, isn't that a contradiction?  How can Barker rule if so many other guys rule as well.  Isn't the point of being the guy who rules is that no one else does?  HHMM? a pondering for the masses.  Oh, well.

The techniques, though they play an important role in the early stage, should not be too restrictive, complex or mechanical. If we cling to them, we will become bound by their limitation.  Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it.

Actually, Tony, it works the same as the United Nations Security Council.  There are some permanent members, but there are other members who "rule" for certain limited periods of time, regardless of their political clout (or lack thereof).

My time to "rule" as a drummer is going to be the third week in August, 2004.  Get your ducks in a row, everyone, 'cause I'm gonna be a tyrant.  You have been forewarned.

there is a local band here that was forced to fire its singer because THE AUDIENCE DEMANDED THEY DO SO.

talk about tragedy, man. this dude was sooooooo bad, he was good. i mean, it really was like watching a tv spoof of bad singers.

and he was a screamer, too.

ouch! Shocked

We have auditioned 6 singers and they all sucked. I feel like a judge on American Idol. Who told these people they can sing?

Yeah, and how can you be a ruler if you're a person?
Just doesn't measure up.  Shocked

Hollow a log into a drum.

Dear. Mr. Walker,

As head of the Committee for Drumming Authority, I would like to present to you the syllabus for your week of tyrannical rule:

- Four billion questions from "new drummers" asking about which is "the best" drum set for beginners. (Side dispute to be resolved: Even though nearly everyone uses the same Luan mahogany shells, which major manufacturer is distinctly better than the rest?)

- Another four billion questions from drummers wanting "Black Page" and a variety of popular rock songs in both tab and notation form ... for FREE. You will be required to play and record all of them at your own expense.

- Five minutes of "free reign" directives.

We hope you will be prepared to rule with effciency, however, as an American, we also recognize your president will thumb his nose and do whatever he wants to do.

Thank you,

Boutros Boutros "Bam Bam" Agogo,
Chairman, International Recorder of Rhythm Energy Language Ergonomics, Values, Applications, Notations and Traditions (I.R.R.E.L.E.V.A.N.T)

Typically a combination of epic/keyboard enhanced speed metal.

I'm sure you would be able to find many samples on the internet, here in particular if you want to hear some:

I didn't used to know either.  On another board I once read a post that wanted people's opinions on "black metal drummers".

I was about to flame the guy for such a racist question, but was schooled before I could embarrass myself!!  Roll Eyes

I am glad you explained about "black metal", because I was just as ignorant and didn't want to ask. Sometimes silence really is golden.
