speaking of pads and pillows.....

So, I'm a busy little college student, squeezing in whatever practice time I can get on practice pads and pillows. I'm also a dorm-dweller, which means my kit is at home. My stick control (and foot control, thanks to my new bass drum pad) have improved greatly in the last few months, but when I go back to my kit, I suck. The problem lies with the different rebound feels between the snare, toms, and HH.
For example, I can play a paradiddle up to speed on the pad and also on the snare, but if I try to play it with my left hand on the HH and my right hand on the snare, I lose it. Should I be able to 'feel' the same rebound off the hi-hat that I get on the snare? I feel like the practicing I do on pads is hurting my drumset playing.
HELP!
The recent technique posts have been cool, by the way.

You not be using the same muscles when you get back on the kit. It's normal though.
I think that practicing--on anything, any time any where one can--can only be a postive thing.
You have to remember to trabsfer that knowledge feel, and MUSCLE MEMORY form one surface to the other though.
When praticing on apad next time, really examine what you are doing and how your hands fingers, etc are moving. Try to transfer those same movements (as best you can) to your kit.
