I was just browsing over at Musician's Friend when I came across the "Duallist" Single Foot Double Pedal.  The basic idea behind it is that you can put it into a mode where it hits on the upstroke and the downstroke, or you can have it normal.  Now, being the wannabe speed junky that I am, this seems like a Very Good Thing.  In fact, two of them and two bass drums would be even better.

Anyone use these pedals?  Do they work?  Do they last?  And how hard is it to coordinate "quad" bass?

Doing double strokes with normal pedals really isn't that hard, you just need to practice for a few months, it's not like it's a year-long commitment. Unless you take your duallist(s) everywhere you go, you'll only be able to play your double bass licks on your own kit at home. Just practice double strokes for 15 minutes a day (make sure you push yourself to feel the burn), and in 2-4 months you won't need no stinkin' duallist. Wink

In addition, I have heard they have reliability and structural problems. Don't buy them.

I agree, it's not that hard to get double strokes, and it's even easier to get double BOUNCES (which is a different story in itself.)  I actually came across double strokes on bass by accident, and just improved upon it.  But, of course if you want to have lightning fast bass w/out practicing I guess the dualist is worth a try...to me it seems like a helluva lotta trouble to coordinate all the switching from double to single and this and that... maybe you can fit a dualist to your right bass along with your regular pedal...you just have to experiment and see what u like!

I'll just stick with the double bass pedal,
haha it would be cool to get 2 bass drums 2 of those dualist and have a quad pedal. but who would need to go that fast anyways

I have no experiance with these pedals but if I ever get them it would be for show.Have both set on double and play 2 bass drums with 4 beaters at once.Just for a mega loud effect.I am though interested in the triple pedal they have.Could be cool to do some experiments with that.
