Can someone recomend something in the Sabian line that would fit my needs so I have an idea what to play at my local Sabian dealer without having to pull every cymbal off the rack trying to find the right match?
Oh, c'mon - that's the fun of cymbal shopping!
I recommend that you take your cymbals with you to the store, to help get cymbals that are complimentary in pitch.
For a lower-pitched one, try the 18" AA El Sabor. Great crash, killer bell, and okay for light to medium riding - a VERY versatile cymbal.
For a higher pitched one, I like the AAX Studio Crashes and the HHX Evolution Crashes. I also am a fan of the AAXplosion Crashes, but oddly my 17" seems to be lower in pitch than my 18" - again, I recommend you take your cymbals with you to make sure you get the sonic spread you're looking for.
Hope this helps!
