Around this time last year I got whiplash. From headbanging.Yes my stupididty on that one.But up until this morning for three days my neck was in severe pain right in the same area where my whiplash had hurt the most. Now I am not sure if I will have pains here and there forever but man I could barely drum with it.Has anyone had whiplash or just neck area pains in general where playing is just hard?

I suffered bad whiplash from a car accident about 5 years ago, and yes it was very painful. But fortunately, I've never had too much pain while drumming.
The worst thing about whiplash is that it never really goes away, I'm afraid you will most likely suffer with it for the rest of your life. Sorry!
It can resurface quite unexpectedly, for example, here's an amusing story....
I had a driving job about three years ago, as I was cruising along in the bright sunshine on my way to my next delivery, a wasp flies in throught the open window. Now I'm allergic to wasp and bee stings, so I felt the immediate need to get away from this insect and I jerked my head away in fright. That was that. I ended up not being able to turn my head for a week! Not trying to frighten you or anything, but once you suffer a whiplash injury you have got to be careful not to do anything that might aggrevate it.

I drum and box and one thing that works well for both drumming and boxing is neck exercises. Basically lift weights with your neck the same as you would with any other body part, but make sure you don't go to heavy! Maybe only a pound or two to start off. Belive me it helps Im a huge slayer fan If you catch my drift. Wink

I'm not sure if I had it or not.. my attorney insisted I did.
Many years ago....no reoccurance unless being a pain in the neck to others counts.
