I just got my first drumset. I am looking for a instructional DVD for the beginner. Does any one have any suggestions.

Check out some on line music stores like interstate music or musician's friend: they should have a large selection of titles, some for the beginner. I don't know which ones to recommend.

Hi Bob,

I think the most prominent company putting out instructional and performance videos (especially for drums) is Hudson Music. At this website:

http://www.hudsonmusic.com/

[Under the Products-> DVD's section, I saw a DVD by Tommy Igoe called "Getting Started on Drums" for about $30.00 that looks like a winner. Looks like you can buy it right there online too.]

Interstate Music distributes a lot of Hudson's products. I would look through Hudson's site and see what they have to offer.

http://www.interstatemusic.com/

Also, either call Interstate Music or go to their website and request a printed catalog. The catalog has a bunch of DVD and Book/CD packages in the back for player's from beginner's to advanced. Lots of other products too.

And if you adjourn to Vic Firth's Groove Essentials you can check out the videos and get a flavour of Tommy's teaching style before you shell out some cash. I like him.
