About once a month I walk around for 2-3 days with 5 lb leg weights on my legs ( strapped around my ankles ) and of course I drum with them on.Now I am not a workout buff so I can't say as to the exact effects of whats going on.But I feel that after wearing them my legs are not only a bit stronger but my playing ( feet wise ) improves since I have this mass amount of weight then remove it.Anyone else try this, and if so have you seen results??

I'm wearing 5 lb. weights 5 days a week....Steel toe boots. I'm on my feet constantly and skinny as a rail. But when I put on my light gig shoes it feels like I'm barefoot. I attribute that to the weight I wear. I don't see how it could hurt?    Undecided

I don't think wearing ankle weights while drumming will help you. The weights would make it harder to pull your leg up and easier to push down, which is the exact opposite of what you should be doing if you want to improve your speed.

Maybe try putting a weight on the beater to make it harder to push down; that would improve your strength for sure.

But that's just my thought on the matter.

 Hippie out.....

Weights help you increase speed for drumming...I have used ankle weights for a while, but unfortunately not consistently lately. For me the best thing is to practice with them on for 30 mins...then the rest of practice without.
