im planning on buying a zildjian stick bag online in a little while. just wondering what the differences are between the 30 dollar model and the 10 dollar model. can they both be held from the floor tom. about how many sticks can each hold. is the 30 dollar model that much more durable or will i be wasting my money that could be spent in other places. thanks

I would say about twenty dollars. OK, jokes are over. Looking at both, I would think the more expensive one has several additional compartments of cards, key, etc. I would think it also holds more sticks and has a shoulder strap, rahter than  short hand held strap.Neither of them give a complete discription of size, but they do indicate the construction. You might be able to get an answer via phone. If your thinking of MF, they have been really nice each time I've called with a question. Good Luck.

If all you need is something for a buncha sticks and a key at a gig, save the cash and buy the cheap one.  I have one, and for that, its dandy.  It was what I used for classes too.

If you want/need more, then youll have to spend more and its worth shopping around.  I swear by the Yamaha Erskine free standing bag for a reason.   It runs $45ish, so you do spend.  But for swapping out tools, its the tops.

thanks for the answers. do u kow if the larger one has a way to be suspended from the floor tom. the small one says it does but the big one doesnt mention anything. i would like to avoid calling. anywhere ive ever called generally isnt that resceptive when a 14 year old(like myself) calls. i will if i really have to but would rather get the answer right here. i tend to trust u guys more then the people who have never held a drum stick

I personally have a vater stick bag.But I am under the impression that any and all stick bags are mountable from a floor tom.I don't see why they wouldn't be.I think the more expensive ones just use diff materials.Like most are cloth type ( can't remember the name ) and some are leather/pleather,but in general they prob all hold the same amount of goodies unless you buy a really expensive one.

Do you guys notice a difference in sound when you attach your stick bag to your floor tom or mounted floor tom vs having your stick bag sitting/laying on the floor?

It seems like the stick bag would act like some type of sound barrier being attached to the floor tom.

I never noticed any difference in sound, but I am careful to be sure the little air-hole in the side of the tom is not blocked by my stick bag----and I'm not sure that even blocking that would matter, but I take care to keep it open anyway.

One thing I don't like about the normal Zildjian stick bag is that the pocket for the drum key is on the outside of the bag.  Once your bag is open and hanging on the floor tom, you cant get to the key.  I wish the drum-key pocket was on the inside, like their more expensive one that looks like a kilt!

I've noticed a huge difference - it's a big piece of cloth held tight against the shell of the floor tom by the weight of the sticks you're carrying. It does deaden the drum. That effect may help, it may hurt.

i think ive made my mind up. im gonna go with the travis barker stick bag. same as the super stick bag but it has a checkerboard pattern on it and in an ad in md i saw a closeup picture of it and i can see the floor tom hooks so it should have everything that i need. thanks for all the answers. my floor tom could use a little deadining of the sound any way so that shouldnt hurt me at all Smiley

i have a solid plastic one that clips onto the cymbal stand. if u only need 2 spare pairs of sticks then it works great and doesn't dampen any drums. not too expensive either

I know Nitro has decided on a stick bag, but here's some info in case anyone else is looking for a cheap stick bag.

I own the $10 Zildjian stick bag.  I lost an older vinyl bag and just needed something to transport and store my sticks. (Lost some good cowbell sticks, too!  Cry ) It doesn't hang on a floor tom.

It has an outside pocket with a velcro closure.  Pretty good quality for $10.  It can be hung from a floor tom, but it doesn't have the strong elastic and hooks like my old one.  This one has fairly heavy strings which are about like heavy boot laces for attachment.  Overall, it's a good stick bag.  I only carry four pairs of sticks and one pair of mallets at a time, so anything bigger is overkill.

Great deal for $10.  It's right up there with my $29.99 Pulse piccolo.  Grin

i just got back from the store with my travis barker stick bag and it works great. only question is, is it supposed to be able to hang from the plastic hooks or am i supposed to use the shoelaces that came tied to it. the hooks are to close to use but the laces seem to be workin. just not sure if thats the way its supposed to work

the hooks are for the laces, the laces are to tie it to the dum.

I've used the same stickbag for many years....My hip pocket on my pants. When I break or drop a stick I've got one so fast I rarely miss a beat. Once I made the mistake of wearing dress pants with no rear pockets. I gave them to the Goodwill. Nice pants, but useless to me.....My jeans work great for 4 pair of sticks. And I've always got a drumkey in my pocket. Access is handy, doesn't hang on my drum, and the price is right.   Wink
