I can't seem to find a website where musicians gather to find each other. I am sure it must exist (if not I am creating it). I am looking for a place where bands post looking for a drummer or band forming type stuff.

Thanks for any links.

A lot of folks around Seattle use craigslist ... a really cool resource, but still limited as to where it covers.  I have no idea where you live so youll have to see if its active there.

You might try this:

http://www.musicians.4mg.com/ads/

Let me tell you what I did that worked:

I live in a crappy, illiterate little redneck town in eastern Kentucky where they think that bluegrass & country are MUSIC.  I'd rather listen to cats f******.

I had a notice up on the bulletin board of the ONLY guitar shop in town for 8 months with NO response.  Problem is, half of these morons can't read, and most of those who CAN read don't know how to use a telephone.

I went to Ashland, KY and Huntington, West Virginia and posted notices in local guitar shops to find musicians.  Most guitar shops have bulletin boards.  Those towns are 30 and 40 miles from me, but it worked.  Within two weeks, some guys called from Huntington and we've been jamming together for a couple of months now.  It's hell driving that far, but I had no other choice.

At present, I'm looking for a place to live in Huntington.  Five years in this rat's nest is enough for me.

Put your PC to another good use. Check the want ads for news papers new you and wee who is available. Most people put a small ad in the wanted sections or an at liberty section. You'd be surprised what you can come up with. Most will give a name, mumber and address, plus a up coming gigs if they are active at this time. Some may be looking for additional work and you can drop in an hear them in action. You could do the reverse and place an ad indicating new band forming and musicians needed. Have done this severial times with good results. Good luck.

Make use of all the free newspapers in your area and use all available bulletin boards wherever the public will see them. (not all players go to their local music store all that often)  Go to places where music is regularly played and connect with other musicians who will help put the word out that you are looking.

CraigsList is great. Also try:

http://www.taxi.com/

http://www.justplainfolks.org/

To me, the best place to go is where musicians are playing.

Also meeting some musicians on MySpace, although this site isn't dedicated to musicians. Lots of bands, producers, and the like on this site.
