B. Rad Perccusion - UGLYTIPS™

UGLYTIPS™

Lightweight ... less than 1.3 grams each.

Fits most size drumsticks with bead diameters between 11/32" and 11/16".

$3.99 per pair (sticks not included)

A simple yet affective solution for the drummer/percussionist who wants to be able to practice without having to carry a practice pad with them. I found the UglyTips™ to be a lot of fun and allows me to pick-up a pair of sticks and play anywhere; and no more having to play on my leg(s)! I put the UglyTips™ on my Vic Firth Fusion drumsticks with no trouble at all, and played on a number of horizontal surfaces ... such as my desk and studio console ... and it works great. The feel isn't like playing on a real drum, and there seems to be more rebound because of the rubber material used with the UglyTips™, but I still enjoyed using them.

You don't have to leave the UglyTips™ on your sticks; they come on and off easily, but only when you want them to. I personally have a pair of sticks with the UglyTips™ on all the time, ready to be picked up and grabbing a few minutes of practice instantly.

I think this product would be a real advantage for the drummer/percussionist who either can't or does not want to carry a practice pad around. Even though practice pads are being produced in small dimensions these days, it's nice being able to just keep a pair of sticks with the UglyTips™ handy. I had no issue of marring on any of the hard surfaces I played on ... which is definitely important! The only negative aspect of using UglyTips™, in my opinion, is if you are playing on a table or desk ... the playing surface is going to resonate and not be especially quiet.

I recommend UglyTips™ and that you give them a try for yourself. They're easy to transport, so keeping them handy (in your pocket, stickbag or your vehicle's glove box) is not a problem.

UglyTips™ are available directly from B.Rad Percussion, who by the way makes some really nice foot controlled Talking Drums.
