Johnny Carson

Johnny Carson, born John William Carson on October 23, 1925 in Corning, Iowa was an American television host, comedian, and jazz drummer, best known for his thirty years as host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962–1992).

Carson was the recipient of six Emmy Awards, the Governor's Award, a Peabody Award (1985), Presidential Medal of Freedom (1992), and a Kennedy Center Honor (1993). He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987.

Johnny Carson died on January 23, 2005; he was 79.
