Fat Cat Snares
« on: August 11, 2006, 11:04 PM »
I lost the battle with my own good judgement and made a trip down to Chad Sexton's shop again after band practice and ended up picking up some of those fat cat snare wires i got the dual adjustable ones. I have to say I'm shocked I had puresound blasters on them before and they really seemed no different from the stock wires, but these ones even at the default setting are awsome they are far less sensitive to bad tunnings and odd buzzing, and if you really loosen up the center you can get this dirty ass sound with a tight snap. I'm really impressed.

I too bought into the Puresound craze after hearing a salesman at GC go on and on about how great they are, especially in regard to sensitivity and killing buzz however I found myself in the same position...there seemed to be little difference in these and the stock wires that were originally on the snare.  I'm going to give the Fat Cats a try.

Yah somone else on here told me don't waste your time with puresounds they're overrated. I also hear dynamicx (spelling?) snare wires are really really good. I got the fat cats becausee they seemed to be the most unique and were the cheapest oddly enough, probably because they are made in taiwann. Anywho it would make sense that guitar center would blow up puresound wires, its the only wire they sell other than the 10 dollar gibralter ones.

I have the Fat Cat Dual Adjustable wires on most of my snares.  I love them.  very responsive at very low and very high volumes.  I wish they would make them with a few more strands, just to make them extra wet!
