Hello eveyone,I'm Tim, 45 years old and I have searched for a good drummers forum for awhile and I found this one so here I am.
I started to play drums as a kid in grade school ,toyed around with them for a few years but gave them up for the guitar, played in a couple of bands over the years, but the drum bug kept biting me.So when I hurt my arm and couldn't grip the guitar anymore that was my chance.Anyways, long story short, have been playing the drums about 2 years now and play in a church praise band,I love christian rock.I am happy to be a part of the community.Own  mid 80's Pearl DLX and a 98' Yamaha Stage Custom sets.

Chris Wier

Hello, my name is Chris.  I teach guitar, drums and bass, do home recording projects for videos, have played many years and play at my local church.  I recently went to a Baloche conference and attended Albrecht's workshops.  Very good stuff!  I'm here to learn and share.

Michael Heim

Hello ! it's now official I'm with the Drummer Cafe. My name is Mike Heim, younger brother of the late Dave Heim. Dave was a drummer for over 40 years and played with a number of bands in the Chicago area. I am taking a new approach to drumming and keeping his spirit alive by doing so. Thank you .

Blake Normand

Hello I am a new member here. I am 42 yrs old and have been drumming since I was a teenager. I have owned numerous kits in my life. Some pro kits, some intermediate. I currently am waiting to receive my next kit which is a DW Collectors kit in Ruby Glass finish with a matching VLT snare. The kit should arrive in 2-3 weeks. I am glad to be here and willing to share my knowledge and experiences with drums, as well as receiving knowledge and experiences from you guys.

Jimmy Jones

Hi folks. My name is Jimmy but you can call me by my username, which is actually a nickname given to me by a band mate in the 90's. I'm 47 years of age and have been playing drums in and around the Tupelo Mississippi area since the mid 80's. My playing experience for the most part has been classic rock, country, and blues. But I love all kinds of music.
I'm new to the whole internet forum thing ,I found this one browsing through tapatalk ,with my phone.
I am presently playing in a small three piece band called the Dinosaurs ( because were old and play old music.;) )
So far from what I've read this forum seems like it might be really helpful and there seems to be a lot of good people here.

Hey everyone!  I was looking for a good drumming forum and I read several things that pointed me here.  I'm looking to make connections in the drumming community, find advice, learn, grow, and help others if I can.

A little bit about me:

I've been playing for about 27 years.  Thanks to my parents, I actually started when I was 3.  I took lessons from a local jazz legend, Larry Donely, from age 5 through 20.  Several years ago I started teaching students, which I've found to be a real joy - most of the time!  I like most genres of music; my favorite being progressive rock.  I'm currently in a jazz/pop trio.  Ultimately I'd love to make a living being a session musician, but for now I'm stuck with the normal day to day job that pays the bills.  If I could live the dream, it would be recording drums/percussion for movies and tv shows.

Since I'm new I won't post any videos here (not sure if that's proper forum edicate or not!), but if you're interested you can click the link in my signature.  It'll point you in the right direction  8)

Looking forward to getting involved, and thanks for letting me be a part of your community!

Welcome Scott!  I just watched the video from the PA GC finals.  Very cool!

I'm new also. Found this site searching for threads based on the significance of "1" in music. I have played w many"phrase hearers" but am convinced that this lack of knowledge on their part hurts the overall cohesiveness of the band. How many players out there do not recognize that there is a pattern to what they play. You start and finish somewhere! That would be......"1" know where it is!

2/3 of the musicians I've met over the years has been like that. Of course you won't recognize it until you've played with real musicians who has many styles of playing ability.

Love the people in our band and they are great players. I call them parrots or mocking birds. They can pretty much reproduce what they hear with no true concept of what they're saying. How can you dynamically lead yourself towards "1"if u don't know where it is! 2/3 of "musicians "out there.. do urself a favor. UNO!

Alex Sanguinetti

Carl J. Pankowski

Carl J. Pankowski here...Thanks for the invite. Played professionally for 12 years, got married and stopped. Big mistake. I am back into it now.  Started taking lessons again as I am progressing on the set, but need to get the technique, rudiments, reading and speed to where I feel comfortable again.

Paul Jennings

Hello Drummer Cafe!

My name is Paul Jennings.

I have been a drummer & percussionist for about 20 years (wow! I can now say things like "20 years ago" that came fast)

I have been very fortunate to travel far and wide as a drummer and also play with some great people. If you would like to know more about that you can go here:  http://www.drummerpercussionist.com/]http://www.drummerpercussionist.com/

In 2011 I set up the cajon lesson website  http://www.playcajon.org]www.playcajon.org   which gives the user access to over 150 video lessons about the cajon drum.

I also own an online percussion store and distrobution company called Paul Jennings Music LLC. You can find us here:  http://www.pauljenningsmusic.com]www.pauljenningsmusic.com

This all keeps me far to busy and sometimes its hard to find the time to practice anymore but I still try to* make sure I get a few hits in every day.

I am glad I have finally joined this fantastic forum, Thank you Bart! I look forward to some great discussion.

All the best,

Paul.

Travis Maurer

Hi! Name is Travis, been playing for almost 20 yr now. I was previous member at drummer cafe and now Im back after a few years of seldom playing. Always looking for new ideas when playing, or just grooving along to a classic.

Stuart Napier

Hi there drummers one and all.
What's there to tell.. real name Stuart.. 55 and feeling every day of it at the moment. Been a drummer since I was 8 (pipe bands and did that up to about 21).. played in my mothers old time dance band for years (and to this day it was the best paying gigs I ever had.. 3 times  a week and (any) money when you were 14 was magic. Gave up for a couple of decades (working overseas, Wife, kids.. you know the drill) and took it back up about 7 years ago. Kit wise.. a set of Pearl Forums which do solid duty for reheasals, a Slingerland kit.. not vintage but a made in Asia version with a few Cocobola (?) plies. Despite the Asia origins and costs I have zero complaints about the quality of the finish or sound. Picking up a new kit this weekend.. Sleishman, 100% Bubinga 8/10/12/14/16 and 20.. no snare (yet), have a bunch of snares Pearl free floater, Acrolite, Tama King Star, Carlton Classic, Dandy, A Yamaha 12" that I'm loving really cranked up.. too many cymbals, Bosphorus, Instanbul Mehmet, and  Istanbul Agop, Vintage Zildjians, Zyn Supers, ... lots of turkish stuff that I bought when I visited straight from the factory. But all the gear in the world doesn't mean I can play worth a @$%#. Play Rock, Pop, Jazz and a Mozambique that only the walking dead could dance to.
Looking forward to the forum

Cheers

Stefan Brodsky

Hi folks, I'm Stefan, 61, from Colorado. Have been playing since I was about 10, though did take about 15 years off from playing, until I started back in earnest, some 13 years ago. Had (and still have) an older set of Ludwig Club Dates, which I finally retired, for a new set of Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveus, which I purchased in 2010. I have a jazz background, played country and rock in college, and now play old school R & B, in a group I co-founded 7 years ago.  We try and gig out about 2x/month, but that doesn't always happen. Glad I happened upon this forum and had a chance to check in.  :)
