Drummer’s Spare Parts Kit
« on: September 02, 2010, 10:31 AM »
Sorry if this has been covered extensively, but could I get recommendations for a working (i.e., clubbing) drummer’s  spare parts kit to cover emergencies.  I’m thinking:

Extra Snare
Extra BD Pedal
Drum Key
Plenty of Sticks

What else?

Also, what are some preferred methods of consolidating and transporting this stuff?

Thanks!

black gaffers or duct tape
cymbal felts and sleeves
extra foam ear plugs
extra cables (if you use electronics)

Besides what is already listed, I bring along a little repair kit made up of lugs posts w/washers, rubber tubing for cymbal stands, snare string, a multi-tool, compact screw driver.

I have it all stored in the pouch of my cymbal bag. As for the other stuff - spare snare, pedal. Just another bag to haul along.

Extra bass drum head. Always.

I've only broken 2 or 3 in my entire career, but there's no satisfactory workaround for a busted bass drum head. So I carry a spare even to the lamest little gig.
Hit on 2. Repeat on 4.
(instructions found written on Mr. A's snare drum)
