I played on one of the stages at a local arts festival today - i.e. very short setup/strike to accommodate several acts on one stage.  This was my first experience at a festival like this as a drummer and it was a blast!  Conditions weren't ideal, but I love the folks I play music with and we had a good time.  I did note a few things that I would do differently next time:

1) bring the box fan!  I can't believe that I forgot it!  it was hot - but at least I had a dry towel!
2) consider hearing protection when using wedges - We normally use IEMs
3) pay teenage son to lug most of the gear!

It was a lot of work, but it was exhilarating!  I had a great time and would definitely do it again.

One last thing.  The hot, humid and sweaty conditions confirmed something for me: stick wax is AWESOME!  I perspired a lot, but I had no issues with my grip - nice and relaxed with no slippage.

Right on!  I particularly like your #3.
