Chicago Drum Show 2012

(1/1)

Dave Heim:
My son, Ben, and I took in the 2012 Chicago Drum Show last Saturday.  It was well-attended.  Bun E Carlos & Randy Rainwater were on hand with vintage drums.  I found Ed Shaughnessey lurking in the Ludwig booth and had a nice chat with him, after which he signed my copy of his new book "Lucky Drummer".  Bermuda was in the house - it's always nice to see him and it was fun catching up a little.  I shared a few Ludwig memories with Jim Catalano.

And for you folks who suffer from Gear Aquisition Syndrome as I do: I picked up a very cool 13" hemp shell (silver glitter) snare from Paul Mason of Tempus Drums.  I played it last night with a concert/pops band  - it sounds great!  Nice and crisp!

I have a few pix on my Facebook page.  Have a look: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4078397364949.2177480.1432970322&type=1&l=d7a685287c

neat! can't believe how fast your boy has grown up.

i came close to buying a tempus snare drum few years back. paul mason is such a cool person, it'd be a joy to support him. just never got 'round to it.

what is that thing that looks as though it's covered with lots of wine or beer bottle labels--bass drum? has a very french revolution kinda vibe.

seems like a great event!
