conga skin replacement

can anyone tell me how long to soak my luis conte artist series skin to my meinl headliner conga 11".i have it in water now,i just need to know if it will shrink to size.it cost 50 odd pounds and i don,t want to mess it up.a prompt reply would be much appreciated.david norman.

You can soak it over night and as long as 24 hours. You want the skin to be soft and pliable so you can work with it. Damage can occur while working with the skin while it's soft, so take care.

The time needed to soak depends on the thickness of the skin as well as the type of skin (eg. calf, goat, etc.).
