Cases for 16" Bass drums

Hi guys... I've been using overside bass drum bags for as long as i can remember... It's time to replace my case for my 16 again so wanted to pick your brains. What do you guys with 16" basses do?

The drum I've got is a 16X12... I tried stuffing it into a 16" road runner case and it didnt fit because of tom mounting hardware and the DW riser i have on there... Been really really digging the Ahead Armor cases lately as I've had my snare case for quite a bit and I just got the multi snare case for my toms last week... Think my drum will fit in one of their tom cases? Any other soft case makers out there make a 16" bass bag?

You could look into getting a custom soft bag made ... if you want the soft bag, rather than a hard shell case.

It's not that expensive to get a bag made. You could talk to Beato about making one for you.

The make the bags for smaller companies as well. Beato made the (Joe) Porcaro djembe bags that I own.

A 16x12 bass drum should fit in a 16-inch tom case, like a 16x14 or 16x16, if you turn the tom arm down and position the rail consolette in the corner of the case. Have you tried that?

I did try stuffing the bass in with the rail mount off... But the actual rail is preventing the drum fitting... Maybe it's a road runner thing where they designed it without thinking of space for floating mounts and such? Also what about risers?

I got one of these DW risers... Would I have to take it off to fit it in the bag? It's got a post... :(

I use a riser on my 16". I take it off.  :)

I don't have the drum size or situation that you have. Right now the only 16-inch Bass Drum I have is actually a 16x16 Floor Tom on a Tom Lift. Sorry.

Hi guys, sorry Ive been MIA from this thread for quite a bit... Anyways,
my multi snare case got here and it fits my 14X9 and 10X6 toms perfectly. Even with the suspension mounts, there was still room... I think Im going to just grab a 16" tom bag from Ahead and pray... hahahaha...

Cases fit like a glove! Went into starving musician and they just had a 16X16 in stock... walked out with it 10 minutes later... :)
