2004 NA HOKU HANOHANO AWARD
« on: May 29, 2004, 11:18 AM »
The Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA), is a nonprofit organization formed in 1982 to stimulate interest in the local recording industry and the music of Hawai'i.

The Na Hoku Hanohano Award, the Hawai'i version of the Grammy Award, has been given to albums (since 1978) which feature traditional Hawaiian music. The Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts' 27th Annual Competition was held on May 24, 2004 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom ... and I just found out today that an album I played on received an award!

Religious Album Of The Year
Best performance of religious material.

HOSANA, Na Leo Ho‘onani

On a side note: The Grammys recognize the award and are working towards recognizing it by creating a Hawaiian music catagory for the Grammys which will begin in 2005.
