I saw this post a couple months ago, and was glad JnD asked the question.  Also glad to hear that you've begun playing out more, Bart.  It's been since, maybe, 2009 that I was in Nashville last, and the next time I get there on vacation I hope to catch you playing somewhere.

Sorry to hear about your hiatus from gigging, Jeep. I can relate a bit, as I'm on a bit of a hiatus myself, yet also feeling it was a welcome change.

Like several of you in recent posts, I'm not new here, but haven't been actively posting on the forum since -- wow -- early 2012. Life happens sometimes.  But with it, hopefully a bit more understanding and maturity, right?
I just turned 50 last year, and with that milestone I'm feeling more persuaded to be available to share what I've learned over the years, and be a part of others' growth.  So I'm hoping I can do a better job of not just visiting the forum from time to time, but usefully contributing on a regular basis.

I made this video to give to people who ask me what my Roland settings are, or if they are having issues with double triggers and miss hits. I go over all the settings, what they do, and what ones to use. Copying my settings is not good as we all have different drums and play differently. Learning how to set it up, and WHAT THE SETTING DO, can save you in a live situation.

Technique(s) / Tom groove YouTube lesson
Last post by beyondbetrayal - March 23, 2018, 02:00 PM
Here is a quick video I made on tom grooves... Still playing around with mixing techniques and figured it would be a good way to hit them lots. I also have a new push to talk button for my mic which will save me a ton of time in future videos.

Nothing too advanced here but a fun way to experiment with grooves you already know how to play.

My first kit was by Barclay.  Not sure if they were a Pearl child or not.
Here's a cool site about Japanese drums of the past.
