Title: Bass drum tom mount cover
Post by: Jon Kostaras on July 24, 2013, 06:01 PM
Hey. I bought a 2nd hand Brady kit a few years ago. Gorgeous thing, but the last guy who had it decided to cut a Gibraltar tom mount into the bass drum! Sacrilege.

Anyway, I tried one of the Pearl tom mount covers you can get, and unfortunately it doesn't fit well. Any other ideas? It isn't a big deal really, but would like to cover it up as my toms hang from a tom stand.

Cheers dudes.

I don't know what kind of finish you have, but if it's a natural finish (no wrap) you could plug the holes with dowels (cut to the right length of course).

I have an old Gretsch kit that I did this to. I took the rail consolette off, plug the holes and wrapped the kit with African Bubinga.

You could stain the wood dowel plugs to closely match your stain finish ... assuming that's what you have.
