tHUNder DuoThunder Duo — percussionist, Kornel Horvath and drummer, Gabor ‘Gabs’ Dornyei — has been signed by New York-based Hudson Music for exclusive global digital distribution of their DVD, Thunder Duo with Dom Famularo. The 84-minute program, shot by Hunnia Productions during a sold-out performance at a major venue in the duo’s hometown of Budapest, Hungary, has been garnering 5-star reviews in the likes of Rhythm, the UK’s top-selling drum magazine. Thanks to internet samples, it has also attracted a growing stream of interest from drummers and percussionists around the world.

Commenting on the signing, Rob Wallis, Hudson Music Co-President, noted that, “Thunder Duo really came out of the blue for us, but once we saw their very unique and creative approach to drums and percussion we were hooked. What really impressed us was that because Kornel and Gabs are from Hungary, they have a very unique approach to their instruments and play some very different grooves, but also sound like they could be from New York or Los Angeles. The fact that they have a European perspective and rhythmically rich musical vocabulary really ups the interest factor. Gabs – who also plays the international touring production of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller Live!’ and Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ in London – plays wicked grooves and is a tremendous soloist with great funk and fusion chops. Kornel on percussion is like… whew! This guy is a sensational player with some very unique techniques and rhythms happening throughout the show. Both players are great alone and together, and on this DVD they are joined for the finale by guest, Dom Famularo, who is also tremendous. We love the performances and feel drummers and percussionists interested in great grooves and clever solos will also find Thunder Duo with Dom Famularo very inspiring and educational. Hudson Music is very happy to bring international artists like Thunder Duo to the world.”

Added Gabs Dornyei, “The response to Thunder Duo in Europe and the UK has been fantastic, but there are many more people who want to see Thunder Duo, so Kornel and I are very happy to have Hudson Music handling global distribution for our DVD. We are also pleased to be associated with this company that has such a fantastic history of working with so many great musicians.”
