ICMP 2009 Scholarship Winners

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance recently hosted the 2009 drum scholarship finals, in conjunction with Mapex, Paiste and Drummer Magazine. The winners were Daniel Penalver, who walked away with a prize of a free course worth £5,250 and Nicola Roccamo and Francesco Lucidi, both of whom received the sum of £2,500 towards their own course fees.

The 8 finalists were competing for a place on the ICMP's internationally-renowned Higher Diploma course, delivered at their fantastic London facilities. This specialist one-year full-time course has been developed to train students of drums, guitar, bass and vocals for a career in the music industry. Achieving a place on the course is an aspirational goal for talented young musicians, and alumni can be found throughout today's music industry, working with artists such as Babyshambles, Lemar, Radiohead, Eric Clapton, Keane and KT Tunstall.

The standard of all of the 2009 finalists was extremely high, with all finalists performing live before a panel of judges featuring Martin Potts from Mapex/Paiste and senior ICMP tutors.
Every year the ICMP together with industry partners provide scholarship places to talented students worth in excess of £35,000, representing a fantastic opportunity for deserving students to access world class training and tuition at one of the world's leading schools of contemporary music. Watch out for news of the 2010 Scholarships and your chance to be a part of the programme!
