New for 2013 is a 22 inch Thin Ride in the Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Series. Living up to their name, Byzance Extra Dry Series cymbals are extremely dry, with low-pitched sounds and a short sustain. The raw unlathed surface and extensive hand hammering reveal dark, earthy tones and the cymbal comes to life when played at lower volumes

"Our Byzance Extra Dry Series rides have become incredibly popular over the last few years," states Meinls cymbal product manager Stefan Mueller. "More and more of our artists and customers have repeatedly requested a thin version of the Extra Dry 22 ride. After hearing the first prototypes, there was no doubt that it would become an official model this year."

The 22 thinner relative of its medium version has slightly more wash and an extremely buttery, soft feeling. It has good crash abilities too, due to its thin material and works perfectly for Jazz, Funk, RnB and others genres.

Meinl artist and Jazz drummer Morten Lund said in an email to Meinl: "I received the 22 Extra Dry Thin Ride.only one word.wow!!! Im taking it on tour with Stefano Bollani Trio in Italy/France."
