NH Drum Festival

NH Drum Festival’s 2nd Drum Fun event with 32 drummers will be on May 18th at Autofair Volkswagen of Nashua and Nashua Harley-Davidson, 717 Milford Road, Merrimack, NH from noon until 8pm. The organization was created to showcase drums, drummers, and drumming, and has set in motion their second all-ages Drum Fun event.

"We are excited to step-up to this free all-day event – especially in such a prime location" said Tom Mungovan, founder of NH Drum Festival. "If you came to the first one, you’ll know that we have doubled our participants to 32 drummers this year in what should be an amazing show of talented musicians. The drum community has really responded well to our events and we hope to keep expanding our reach," said Mungovan.

The drummer’s age range is from 8 to 54 and they each will be playing a 5 minute drum solo in nearly every genre, such as jazz, rock, fusion, metal and punk. The competition will be judged by four local area professional judges and prizes will be awarded for the top three placers. Thousands of dollars of drum related items donated by top drum manufacturers such as Sonor, Zildjian, Aquarian, Paiste and Evans Drum Heads will be raffled off at the end of the event. The abundance of drum freebies such as t-shirts and key chains will also be given out to attendees. “Hopefully everybody walks away with something fun and drum related," said Mungovan.

This is a dynamic time for the organization as a whole as buzz has really grown over the past year for Drum Fun along with our other drum events like drummer lead workshops; and the beginning stages of its own television show called “Drum Trio Experiments.” Taping is done at Nashua Airport in Hangar 83, where three different drummers who have never played together before will perform drum solos and play off of each other to find a concise rhythmic beat no matter what genre each of them favor. These episodes will show on local access channels around New Hampshire, giving a look at a rarely-seen event.
