The multi-media book/DVD pack documents the life and music of the musician known internationally as the “King of Latin Music”. Told through first-person stories and interviews, the book traces the East Harlem-born Puerto Rican drummer, musician, bandleader and arranger’s life from his early years in New York City to his pivotal role in the rise of la musica latina and its influence throughout the world.

Throughout the book, Tito provides humor, history and insights into his music and its masters and discusses the foundation of Latin jazz and the evolution of Mambo, Rumba and Danzón. The special bonus DVD features never-before-seen interviews of Tito talking about his incredible career that spanned 50 years.

Not only was Tito Puente a four time Grammy Award Winner, as an internationally acclaimed artist, his records and arrangements became classics in Latin music as well as jazz and rock. Among the drummer’s noteworthy musical collaborations were those with Carlos Santana, Woody Herman, Gloria Estefan and Dizzie Gillespie, to name only a few. But more importantly, Tito Puente’s goodwill, talent and spirit allowed him to bridge racial, cultural and generational gaps by bringing a diverse mixture of people from every race, age, and religion together.
