Drum Road Trip, Upstate New York’s premier drumming event, is already scheduled to present legendary studio drummer Bernard Purdie and rising drum star Derek Roddy in clinic on August 7. Now DRT is proud to announce the addition of Master Class sessions with two of America’s top drum teachers.

Tom Coyne

Renowned LA drummer and teacher Tom Coyne will offer two classes. On Saturday, August 7 his “Creating Musical Drum Parts” class will demonstrate how to build creative, and musical parts for original material. On Sunday, August 8 his class on “Chart Reading Basics” will explain the essential components of working out drum charts, even for non-readers.

Tom Coyne is a busy live and session drummer, and an instructor with over twenty years of experience. He was voted "Educator Of The Year" for 2009 on UnitedGrooveWorkers.com, and he’s currently working on publishing his first instructional book. Besides teaching, Tom records and tours internationally with various artists and for a variety of soundtrack projects.

Dave Cohen currently drums for Prime Time Funk, Hot Sweets, and The Lawnmowers, each of which has critically acclaimed CDs to their credit. He’s also a busy private instructor at his own studio in Fairport, NY, and an active drum tech whose clients include the world-class Studios At Linden Oaks in Rochester, New York.
