Hannah Ford - Peace, Love & Drums
June 29, 2009

Hannah Ford - Peace, Love & Drums Hannah Ford has been called one of the best up and coming young drummers in the country. In 2006 Hannah won the Louie Bellson Heritage Days Drum Competition (only girl to ever do so) and the “Outstanding Jazz Musician” award at the New Trier Jazz Festival in Chicago! In February of 2007 Hannah was once again recognized with an “Outstanding Musician” award at the annual “Jazz in the Meadows Festival” in Chicago. Closing out the year Hannah won the “Best Drummer/Musician” category in Suburban Nitelife Magazine’s “Best of the Burbs” readers poll!

Most recently the drummer with Chicago-land fanfavorite “Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos” Hannah‘s current performance projects include “The Hannah Ford Band” and her one-woman “Peace, Love & Drums” multi-media show. From the moment a show opens until its’ close, audiences will feel the power and exhilaration of Hannah’s assault on her drum kit. For, despite her wholesome, youthful appearance, the musical maturity and show(wo)manship she brings to the stage is well beyond her years.

What is it all about?

Hannah’s idea behind the “Peace Love & Drums” show is to share her experiences as a young musician and take her audience through the multifaceted world of music and drumming. The show will cover jazz, funk/fusion, rock and vocals. It’s preformed live on stage with pre-recorded music tracks and can be presented in a concert format, or clinic format that allows time for audience participation and questions.

Is the “Peace Love & Drums” show just for kids?

The show is for anyone who may have interest in the world of music or percussion. Whether amateur or professional, young or old, everyone will enjoy this presentation. Hannah’s main theme is the importance of music in our world today, especially in the lives of young people. Taking both an educational and entertaining approach, Hannah reaches out to the kids in the audience and shows them how much fun and how special music can be. Adults will see how important it is to support programs in the local schools and communities and make sure that there will always be music programs for their children to participate in.
