A native of England, John Cross was born in Coventry and grew up in Manchester. During his teen years, John took a liking to drums and was heavily influenced by Ian Paice and John Bonham. That love of drums led him to play in local bands and enjoy the life of a working musician. In 2002, John relocated to California to pursue his other passion and one that dovetails perfectly with drumming; the art of woodworking.

In 2009, after much research and development that resulted, John's first creation, a 7-piece kit in Purpleheart wood, was exhibited for the first time at the 2009 Hollywood Drum Show. His booth at the show was situated next to the Supernatural Cymbals booth. The two companies struck up a camaraderie ... and the rest, as they say, is history.
