In October 2008, former Beatles drummer, Ringo Starr, posted a video blog on his website stating that he will no longer be signing autographs after October 20, 2008. He stated that he was too busy and that anything, after that date, sent to any address, will not be signed ... but tossed. This came as a shock to many fans; not that Ringo was tired of signing autographs, but the way he went about telling the world he had enough.
I'm not exactly sure what prompted me to make this spoof video, but with Christmas just around the corner, I started thinking what it would be like if Santa Claus had the same attitude as Ringo Starr. What if Santa was tired of all the fan mail and letters from little children around the world, requesting toys for Christmas. Back in 1999, Ringo Starr had a song out (which didn't fair very well) entitled "I Wanna Be Santa Claus". So Ringo wants to be Santa Claus ... but what if Ringo really WAS Santa Claus?! Ringo Santa?
With Ringo's tune "I Wanna Be Santa Claus" coupled with his recent request for 'no more fan mail', I just had to makes this spoof. The audio is actually from Ringo Starr's original "no more fan mail" video blog; I just dressed up like Father Christmas, lip-synced, and tried to reproduce Ringo's mannerisms and gestures. If you've not seen the original video blog, you might want to watch that first; it will make my video spoof more humorous ... hopefully.
