Alphonse Mouzon

Alphonse Mouzon, born on November 21, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, is a well-known jazz-fusion drummer and percussionist, as well as the Chairman/CEO of his own record label, Tenacious Records. He is also an active composer, arranger, producer and actor.

Mouzon's main claim to fame was his tenure with guitarist Larry Coryell's Eleventh House fusion band (1973–1975). He's also worked with the likes of Jeff Beck, Tommy Bolin, Chubby Checker, Eric Clapton, Betty Davis, Patrick Moraz, Carlos Santana, and Stevie Wonder.

On September 7, 2016, Alphonse was diagnosed with Stage 3-4 Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, an incredibly rare cancer. In addition, he also suffers from Anemia, borderline diabetes, and that his 2006 Prostate Cancer has returned. His oncologist and nephrologist haven't given him a favorable outcome, but with his strong faith in God, o survive, Alphonse believes anything is possible, and through God’s grace, will beat this rare cancer and soon be back beating the drums again.

Alphonse is raising money through a GoFundMe campaign to receive natural treatments at the renown C.H.I.P.S.A. Gerson Therapy Hospital in Mexico which specializes in natural cancer treatments and boasts a 95% cancer treatment successful rate. You can learn more and donate HERE.

Alphonse Mouzon lost his battle with cancer and died on December 26, 2016; he was 68.
