Luis Conte - The Studio Percussionist

The Studio Percussionist, Vol. 1, featuring Luis Conte, gives you a first-hand glimpse at the recording process of one of the most sought after studio percussionists in the world.

Recorded in Jackson Browne's Groove Master Recording Studio in Santa Monica, California, The Studio Percussionist, Vol. 1, demonstrates the recording of basic tracks and the overlaying of additional tracks to complete a cut. Luis also shows how to create entirely different "feels" from a single basic track and how to record multiple percussion insruments within a single track (allowing the over-dub process to maximize on the available number of tracks).

Luis Conte's genius stems from his ability to integrate the powerful rhythms of his native Cuba with the musical necessities of American pop music. His long and varied career has included film scores for George Lucas and mega-successful albums with Madonna, Jackson Browne, Toto, Andy Narell and a multitude of other sessions too numerous to mention.

This video also highlights Luis' playing of congas, bongos, timbales, djembes, tambourines, cajons, shekeres, whistles and miscellaneous small percussion instruments. Every note is place where it will be most effective to create a finished musical masterpiece before your eyes.
