Let There Be Drums

Admission: FREE

Let There Be Drums is a free celebration of drumming, drummers, music and philanthropy. Join us in our goal to bring together 1,000 drummers in order to help 1,000 deserving Minnesota families.

The event is designed to attract 1000 drummers to perform together with a full 40 piece orchestra on St. Paul's Harriet Island stage in the hopes of setting a world's record in the process. Entry is free and logistics are highly organized both load-in/out and sound reinforcement-wise to insure a smooth production.

The main goal is to help 1000 disadvantaged Minnesota families struggling to make ends meet through the gathering of donations by each participant. Funds are being directed to a local charity called the 30 Day Foundation, which you can learn more about here: www.the30-daysfoundation.org

On September 19th, McNally Smith, College of Music, will host a day of drum clinics featuring several of the name drummers involved, including Bernard Purdie, Jimmy Paxson and Charlie Adams. Drummer/Photographer, Rob Shanahan, whom many of you know, is also involved in the organization of the event.
