Ricky Lawson, born November 8, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, was an American drummer and composer, best known as the co-founder and drummer for the jazz-fusion group, Yellowjackets.

Ricky worked extensively as a session musician, collaborating with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston ("I Will Always Love You"), Steely Dan, Bette Midler, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and numerous other artists. He won the 1986 Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance for "And You Know That" from the Yellowjackets album, Shades.

Ricky Lawson died on December 23, 2013 from a brain hemorrhage; he was 59.
