Thomas Pridgen

Thomas Pridgen, born Thomas Armon Pridgen on November 23, 1983, in El Cerrito, California, is an American drummer, best known as the drummer of The Mars Volta (2006 - 2009) and for being left-handed yet playing a drumkit layout that resembles the typical set-up of a right-handed drummer.

At the age of 9, Pridgen first came into the public eye after winning the Guitar Center Drum-Off. In 1999, at the age of 15, Pridgen was awarded a 4-year scholarship to Berklee College of Music; he is the youngest musician, to date, to ever receive this scholarship.

Pridgen has studied with David Garibaldi, Walfredo Reyes, Sr., Troy Lucketta, and Curtis Nutall. He has also performed in clinics with Walfredo Reyes, Jr. and Dennis Chambers.

Throughout his music career, Pridgen has worked with The Coup, The Memorials, The Mars Volta, Christian Scott, Wicked Wisdom, Keyshia Cole, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, Trash Talk, Pinnick Gales Pridgen, Suicidal Tendencies, and Chiodos.
