Richie Hayward

Richie Hayward, born February 6, 1946 in Clear Lake, Iowa, was best known as a founding member and drummer in the band Little Feat (1969-2009).

Besides playing drums and handling back-up vocals with Little Feat, Hayward performed with a number of other bands as well as working as a session musician. Hayward also had some small acting roles on television throughout his career, one of which included an episode of F Troop.

Hayward was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2009. A benefit concert and website were created to enable fans to donate towards the Canadian residents medical bills and treatment costs; he did not have health insurance. While awaiting a liver transplant, Hayward died from complications of lung disease at a hospital in Victoria, British Columbia on August 12, 2010.
