Title: R. I. P. Dennis Weaver
Post by: Louis Russell on February 27, 2006, 01:37 PM
Dennis Weaver, AKA Chester Goode of Gunsmoke fame passed away Friday.  Looks like all the good deputies are leaving us at the same time.

That makes three including Don Knots...

(they always go in threes don't they?)

http://news.bostonherald.com/national/view.bg?articleid=128107]Darren McGavin  was the other. He died yesterday.

Among other things, he was the Dad in A Christmas Story.

He never recovered from being chased all over the map by that huge black truck.

You mean "Duel"?  I really liked that movie.  I seem to remember something called McCloud, featuring Mr. Weaver riding a horse through town, long before TNN got the idea.

Yep. That was his (and, incidentally, Spielberg's) movie break. I looked it up after posting that - 1971. 1971.

I think you mean McCloud.  I used to watch that show (not reruns) with my dad.
