Hello DC'ers,
I wanted to shamelessly announce that my new book, Drum Aerobics, published by Hal Leonard, is now available at many music stores, internet shops (such as amazon.com or Hal Leonard Online) and my newly upgraded website, andyziker.com.
I'm happy about how the book turned out, and my students who have started using it are really excited about the book as a learning tool. It also feels like a good book to teach out of, though of course I'm a little biased...
I'm waiting to hear whether or not Hal Leonard is going to send a review copy to Bart. If not, I will definitely be sending him one in hopes of getting him to review it.
By the way, in short order, my website will include free video content related to Drum Aerobics, Drumscapes (my self published book), Daily Drum Warm-Ups (coming soon from Hal Leonard) and Drumcraft (two books, to-be-released someday by Cherry Lane). If you visit the products page on my website, you can also preview descriptions of other books projects in the works.
My website also provides links to articles that I've written and will eventually include many drum transcriptions (I'll will only share transcriptions that don't appear on other websites).
Congratulations to you Andy; I'm very happy and excited for you!
I'm looking forward to reviewing the book for sure. I've also taken the liberty to start spreading the word via The PRess Roll (http://www.thepressroll.com) newsletter and Facebook.
Thank you so much, Bart!
Here's the official press release for Andy's new book/CD package, Drum Aerobics (http://www.drummercafe.com/music-industry/news/drum-aerobics-helps-players-get-fit-on-the-kit.html).

I haven't been in the Cafe much recently but I have been paying attention through the window & wanted to congratulate you on your new book. I think it looks very interesting and I hope to check it out @ the HL booth @ PASIC. Best of luck w/it & thank you for the kind words you sent me here on the PASIC 2010 thread, I appreciate it.

Thank you, David. Are you going to Winter NAMM? If you are, I would love to meet you there!
Cool Andy, I'm planning on it but I haven't booked anything just yet. We should definitely hook up there if all goes as planned.
If there's any possibility of you attending PASIC, I'd recommend going to help promote your work. It's the most incredible confluence of drummers and industry ever and a lot of great things happened for me and my book just by showing up and being in the mix. Best of luck w/yours & keep in touch!

I may take you up on that advice. I'm mulling over the possibility.

Thank you Bart for this thorough review (as you always do).
I wanted to add that I'm offering free downloadable head charts for each play-along track (These can be found on my website). Using this kind of chart your bandmates could play the song along with you.
Andy - I checked out some of the videos after reading the review. Looks like a valuable resource - and looks like lots of fun.

Thank you for the kind words, Frank. I might be a bit biased, but I'm having a blast using it with my students. The exercise theme and calendar-based structure seems to motivate students more than usual.
Requested by some teachers and students who are currently using Drum Aerobics, I've added the first of three indexes, Mondays: Coordination and Ostinati, as a free download on my website: http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.]http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.
This allows users of the books to more easily find specific content. If you like a certain lick, groove, or exercise within the book, these indexes will be helpful.
Also, if you are considering buying the book, these lists may help you make that decision.
I finally finished the Drum Aerobics Index for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: Grooves. This was quite an undertaking: a massive list with 156 items. Go to my Facebook pages, http://www.facebook.com/andyziker]http://www.facebook.com/andyziker or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Andy-Zikers-Drumscapes/146044865407506,]http://www.facebook.com/pages/Andy-Zikers-Drumscapes/146044865407506, to preview one of the three pages. For a free PDF, please go to my website, http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.]http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.
Last up on the docket: Wednesdays and Fridays: Solos and Fills!
I finally finished the Drum Aerobics Index project! The lists for Wednesdays and Fridays: Solos and Fills (104 items) and Sundays: Drumnastics (53 items) are now available at http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.]http://andyziker.com/media/#drumscores.
I hope these indexes are informative and provide a valuable resource.
The following free content is now available for download on my website:
• 7 pages of indexes
• 25 head charts to accompany the play-along tunes
• 26 video clips of either Dan Tomlinson (Lyle Lovett/Acoustic Alchemy) or myself drumming along to the play-along tracks.
Thank you to the Percussion Partners website for publishing this short article about Drum Aerobics. In this piece I talk a little about the making of the book.

By the way, I support acquiring instructional materials from local music stores. (I was reminded of this recently by the owner of the music store that I teach out of...)
Here is the review of Drum Aerobics in the September 2011 issue of Modern Drummer.

By the way, I'm now calling myself "Thunder" Ziker.
Modern Drummer was nice enough to re-publish Mike Haid's review of Drum Aerobics on their website. http://www.moderndrummer.com/site/2011/12/drum-aerobics-by-andy-ziker/#.TxNNtRwZ5Zc]http://www.moderndrummer.com/site/2011/12/drum-aerobics-by-andy-ziker/#.TxNNtRwZ5Zc
Thanks!
I just received my author's copy, so I suppose it's safe to announce that the 2nd printing of Drum Aerobics is now available.
A few improvements/additions have been made:
• Additional aerobic workouts for drummers.
• Upgraded instructional tips.
• Both CDs now come prepackaged with the Amazing Slow Downer. Example clips and play-alongs can now be looped, sped up, slowed down, and equalized.
• A small ad on the back cover shows the front cover of the spin-off book, Daily Drum Warm-Ups ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1423495187/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=drummercafe-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=1423495187]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1423495187/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=drummercafe-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=1423495187 ).
