Title: Double bass recommendations?
Post by: diamond_lanterns on April 23, 2014, 11:27 PM
Looking for a new pedal and I don't want to spend more than $400. What do you guys consider to be the best for the price?

Check out the Taye Metalworks Double Pedal:

I was very impressed with the feel and unique adjustments available on the single and double Metalworks pedals by Taye. The double pedal is available for less than $400.

You also might want to check out my video report from Summer NAMM 2013 where I interview Todd Trent from Taye drums. He demonstrates all of the features of the Taye Metalworks Kick pedal, albeit the single pedal. You'll be able to see all of the great features and adjustments of the pedal.

I currently own DW single pedals, sold my DW double pedal, and plan to purchase the Taye Metalworks in the near future to replace them all.

Yes I know this topic is a couple of years old, but I'm going to add my 2 cents anyway...

I'm a big fan of the Tama Iron Cobra.  While it hasn't had much updating over the years, I believe this is largely because the got it right the first time.  Infinitely adjustable, rugged and overall a great pedal.

Also, yes, there are better ones (nowdays) but those will also cost you $600+ for a double...

I'd seen some early Slipknot videos (pre-Pearl endorsement) where a closeup of Joey's feet show him stepping on Cobras.  Good enough for him, good enough for me.
