Grades

Just wondering, I'm from England, and over here we have the "Guildhall school of music and drama" and they release a grade book satrting from 1 to 8...I am currently studying grade 8, but have yet take the test. I was just wondering how many people have actually done some form of "grade" and what is their take on it? thanks a lot Lloydxx

I think any kind of progressive learning structure is great. :)  Whether its books or videos or lessons, whatever it takes to learn and move through beginning, intermediate & advanced concepts and techniques....  

I used to have numbered piano books <1-12??  I'm trying to remember...> and think it was a good system.
